Putting makeup on your face can be an easy task or an uphill battle depending on how you approach it. But one thing we can all agree on is that it is time-consuming. Drawing on the perfect eyebrows can take anything from one minute to 10 minutes. Even Katy Perry famously spends ninety minutes on makeup. I will just go ahead and share my makeup application tips that I use damn near everyday for flawless results while spending less time in front of a mirror.
Start With a Clean Slate
Clean, fresh, moisturised skin free of oil and/or dirt generally helps for good makeup application. You will find that starting off with clean skin goes a long way to ensure your makeup looks good all day long.
Never Skip Primer
It’s 2018 now and I want to believe all of y’all good ladies use primers right? RIGHT? There is absolutely no reason you should put foundation or anything on your face without putting on primer first. I shudder when I think of all the times I wore makeup without primer because “It’s just too heavy” Never skip primer guys!
My foundation dos and don’ts are; Do match your foundation with your neck and arms. Do not put foundation on your eyelids (seriously your eye makeup will crease like crazy). Do not buy foundation lighter or darker than your skin shade. Do use a light foundation that will let your skin breathe.
Ah! The White Eyeliner. More and more people are trading in the usual dark eyeliner for the white ones. They are my personal favorite too. They open up the eyes and make them look bigger especially on those days you don’t get enough sleep. They can also be used as eyeshadow base and highlighter
Nude or natural-colored lip liners are the way to go. While it is usually harder to find a color lip liner that matches a lipstick, nude lip liners are usually more versatile and tend to go with everything.
I have personally found that when you use clean brushes and sponges for makeup, it looks way better. I mean this is a no-brainer. Starting out with clean tools is a major key for flawless makeup results. Dirty makeup tools also gives you acne.
I would love to know what makeup tips I’ve missed in the comments below too!
